Add the ability to set game art media priorities per system rather than globally. This would allow users to customize which artwork types (e.g., 2D, 3D, Reconstructed) are preferred on a per-platform basis, offering greater control and consistency for mixed collections.
Currently, the media priorities found under Tools > Options > Media — such as Box Front Priorities, Cart Priorities, or Screenshot Priorities — apply globally to all platforms.
This creates conflicts when certain platforms require different preferences.
For example:
PlayStation users may prefer Box - 3D as the primary view.
NES users may want Box - Front (2D) for a cleaner, flatter look.
Right now, there’s no way to set these independently.
Introduce System-Specific Media Priority Overrides within the existing Media Options menu.
Each “Priorities” tab would include:
A Systems dropdown to select the desired platform.
An “Override Media Priorities” button to enable custom priorities for that platform.
A “Reset Media Priorities” button to revert to the global defaults.
When active, the system-specific configuration would take precedence over global media priority rules.
🧩 Enables per-system visual customization.
🎮 Prevents global conflicts when managing large multi-platform libraries.
🖥️ Creates a more tailored, authentic presentation for each console’s artwork style.
💾 Reduces the need for manual image renaming or directory management to achieve preferred visuals.
A user wants:
Super Nintendo games to display 2D box art.
PlayStation 2 games to display 3D renders.
Arcade titles to prioritize flyers.
With this feature, each platform’s media would display exactly as intended without overriding others.
