Big Box already includes powerful search and filter tools, but they must be manually configured each time. This feature request proposes adding the ability to save predefined filters and access them instantly through a shortcut or side menu—making it much faster to jump into commonly used filtered views.
While current filtering options in Big Box are flexible, they’re not persistent. Every time you want to filter by, say, “Light Gun Games” or “Games with Achievements,” you need to manually open the filter menu and reapply your settings. For users with large libraries, this repetitive process adds unnecessary friction.
Introduce a Quick Filters Menu in Big Box, accessible via a shortcut button or controller input, which allows users to:
Instantly apply predefined filters (e.g. “Currently Playing,” “RPGs,” “SquareSoft Titles,” “Has Achievements”)
Choose from a list of user-saved filters or default common filters provided by LaunchBox
Filter within the current platform or across all platforms
Optionally stack filters (e.g. “Shooter” + “Light Gun”)
These filters would be saved in the user’s profile, so they persist across sessions.
Eliminates repetitive setup for commonly used filters
Speeds up navigation using a controller or remote
Reduces playlist clutter by handling simple views via filters instead
Makes Big Box feel more like a responsive, console-style UI
Keeps library browsing fast and focused, even with thousands of games
