Omit Hidden Games in Big Box Screensaver

Add an option in Big Box’s screensaver settings to exclude hidden games from appearing, similar to the existing ability to omit broken games.

❗ Problem

Currently, the Big Box screensaver cycles through random games across the library, regardless of whether they are marked as hidden. This can surface content that users have intentionally hidden (e.g., duplicates, test ROMs, mature content, or broken entries).

💡 Proposal

• Add a toggle option in the Big Box screensaver settings:

  • “Omit Hidden Games”

• When enabled, the screensaver will skip over any games flagged as hidden in the user’s library.

• Works alongside the existing toggle to omit broken games.

🧩 Use Cases

• Parents who have hidden mature-rated games don’t want them appearing in the screensaver rotation.

• Users who hide duplicate ROMs or alternate versions want a cleaner, uncluttered screensaver experience.

• People who hide placeholder entries or games awaiting metadata don’t want them mistakenly showcased.
