Support Sub-Series for Better Franchise Organization 🗂️🎮

📋Summary

Add support for nested series lists in LaunchBox, allowing sub-series to be grouped under a parent franchise. This would create a clearer and more organized way to display and browse large franchises with multiple related titles.

❗Problem

The current Series field in LaunchBox is flat—every entry is treated as part of a single-level list. This becomes cluttered and confusing when organizing complex franchises like Mario, Final Fantasy, or Mega Man, which contain multiple sub-series or spin-offs. For example, all Mario Golf, Mario Kart, and Super Mario Bros. games are simply listed as part of “Mario,” with no way to visually or logically group them under that umbrella.

This makes it harder to navigate large collections, especially for users who want to preserve franchise structure.

💡Proposal

Introduce support for nested series hierarchies, where users can define a parent series and associate sub-series beneath it. For example:

This could be reflected in the UI through indents, collapsible groups, or breadcrumb-style navigation. The structure could be managed through the metadata editor or series tagging system.
