Summary:

Problem:

For households where LaunchBox is shared across users—especially with children—it can be difficult to manage which games are visible or accessible. While filters exist, there’s currently no way to create separate profiles or enforce restrictions in a secure way.

Parents may want to prevent younger users from accessing games with mature content, while still enjoying their full library themselves. Manually adjusting filters or hiding games each time is not practical or secure, especially if kids are tech-savvy.

Proposal:

Introduce a user profile system with the following capabilities:

• ✅ Create multiple profiles, each with custom filters (e.g., by platform, playlist, age rating, genre)

• 🔐 PIN-code protection to restrict switching between profiles

• 🎯 Default launch profile that opens automatically with LaunchBox or Big Box

• 🔄 Option to toggle profiles quickly, e.g., from a locked UI or launch screen

• 📝 Optionally tie each profile to save settings, favorites, play history, or UI layout

As an alternative (if a full profile system is too complex initially), a simplified parental PIN-code feature could restrict access to certain games based on ESRB/PEGI age rating or custom filters—ideal for creating a kid-friendly mode.
