Multi-Profile Configuration Support for Big Box

📋Summary

Introduce profile-based configurations for Big Box that allow users to launch it with different video, audio & controller settings depending on their setup. This would enable users to create shortcuts for specific display/audio targets—ideal for machines connected to multiple screens or sound systems.

❗Problem

Some users run LaunchBox/Big Box on PCs connected to both a desktop monitor and a living room TV, often with different audio outputs (e.g., desktop speakers vs. TV soundbar). Currently, switching between these setups requires users to manually change audio and video output settings in Windows or within LaunchBox settings. This is time-consuming and prone to mistakes, especially when toggling between setups frequently.

There’s no way to launch Big Box with a preset configuration that automatically routes video and audio to the correct outputs.

💡Proposal

Add support for launch profiles in Big Box, where users can save different configurations and assign them to shortcuts. Each profile could include:

  • Preferred video output device (e.g., TV or primary monitor)

  • Preferred audio output device (e.g., HDMI or default speakers)

  • Optional controller mappings tailored to each setup

  • A user-defined profile name and desktop shortcut for quick launching

Users could easily create profiles for “Living Room,” “Desktop Gaming,” or “Arcade Cabinet” and launch directly into the desired setup without reconfiguring settings each time.

✅Benefits

  • Seamlessly switch between entertainment spaces (TV, monitor, projector, etc.)

  • Eliminates friction in multi-display, multi-audio setups

  • Simplifies AV routing for HTPC or hybrid work/play environments

  • Pairs perfectly with controller-specific configs and multi-user households

  • Improves usability for streamers, content creators, or showcase setups with dedicated outputs 🎮📺🔊
