My request is to expand upon the current MAME Import Wizard. While this has been extremely helpful, it’s only for importing a new full romset release. With monthly MAME update releases, it’s a bit tedious to keep MAME updated within LaunchBox without losing your custom configurations and curated artwork.
If there was an update wizard that could guide you through the process, that would be a game-changer!
Listed are some ideas that could help form the process to do that:
LaunchBox awareness of your romset type (merged/non-merged/split) {Or maybe have LaunchBox require a specific romset type in order to utilize the Update Wizard}
LaunchBox awareness of your current MAME version/romset
Selecting the MAME version/romset you’re updating to
Prompt the user what all you want updated/ignored (media, mame.ini file, folders containing user configs, etc.)
Some of the import options could carry over to the update process, such as what all type of games you want updated or added. Maybe have a box to tick “Use same installation options” that were selected on the first initial import.
These are just some ideas to get started, I’m sure there may be some more useful things to add. I would love to keep MAME up-to-date, at least every other update, rather than do it all manually once every couple of years. Thanks!
