This feature request proposes adding a toggle switch to the main LaunchBox interface that allows users to quickly enable or disable online hi-score uploads for MAME. This would offer more visibility and control over whether scores are shared online before launching a game.
Currently, users must navigate into settings to verify or change the status of MAME’s online hi-score upload functionality. This is inconvenient, especially for users who alternate between MAME configurations — for example:
One version with cheats and save states enabled (ideal for practice or casual play, but disallowed for hi-score uploads)
Another version configured for legitimate gameplay, where uploading scores is expected
There’s no easy way to tell at a glance which mode is active, increasing the risk of unintentionally uploading scores from a non-legitimate session.
Add a small toggle button or indicator on the main LaunchBox interface that displays whether online hi-score uploads are currently enabled for MAME.
Clicking the toggle would enable/disable the feature without needing to dive into settings.
(Optional) Tie this setting to specific emulator profiles so users can have preset “score upload” or “training” modes.
Improves clarity and user control over online score submissions
Prevents accidental uploads from sessions using cheats or save states
Reduces steps and friction for users who frequently switch between casual and competitive modes
Helps power users maintain clean, legitimate scoreboards without managing multiple emulator installs manually
This feature could serve both competitive players and casual users, offering a cleaner workflow for managing score submissions in MAME.
