Overview
Currently, switching between playlists or platforms in LaunchBox requires exiting to the higher-level menu and selecting a different system. This feature would introduce seamless forward/backward navigation between platforms or playlists within while in the Game Details view, making it much faster and more intuitive to browse game libraries.
Proposed Functionality
1) Quick Navigation Between Platforms & Playlists
• Introduce dedicated keys or controller buttons to navigate forward and backward through platforms or playlists without exiting the current game details list view.
• Example:
• If you’re viewing a list of PS1 games, pressing a key moves you forward to PS2 games.
• Pressing the backward key takes you to the previous system
• This allows for quick cycling through game lists from each platforms without navigating back to the main menu.
2) On-Screen Visual Feedback
• When switching platforms or playlists, briefly display a platform/playlist name overlay (e.g., “PlayStation”) for a few seconds.
• Optionally, show a navigation wheel or carousel-style overlay displaying nearby systems/playlists, similar to the CoinOps builds.
• The overlay could appear in Big Box Mode and be customizable in themes.
3) Settings & Customization
• Allow users to map custom keys or buttons for navigation.
• Toggle options for:
Enable/disable navigation wheel
Show/hide platform name overlay
Adjust duration of overlay display
Benefits of This Feature
