Overview
This feature would allow users to assign custom startup sounds to individual games, enhancing the LaunchBox and Big Box experience. When launching a game, a short sound clip—such as an iconic sound effect from that game—would play before the game fully starts.
In the Edit Metadata menu for a game, a new “Startup Sound” field could be added
Users can add, remove, or replace the startup sound for any game.
Supported file formats: MP3, WAV, OGG (to allow flexibility and compatibility).
The sound would play on game launch and could be set to:
Fade out if the game starts quickly.
Stop immediately when the game is fully loaded.
Per-game customization: Each game can have a unique startup sound.
Global startup sound option: If a game does not have an individual sound assigned, users could set a default platform sound for all games.
🎵 Metal Gear Solid – The echoed gunshot sound plays on launch.
🎵 Sonic the Hedgehog – The “SEGA!” startup chime plays before the game starts.
🎵 Super Mario 64 – Mario’s “It’s-a me, Mario!” voice clip plays.
