📋 Summary
Enhance Big Box’s screensaver mode with an option to cycle through games only within the current platform, playlist, or category view, instead of always pulling randomly from the entire library.
❗ Problem
Currently, when the screensaver activates, it plays random games from across all platforms. While this works for variety, it can feel out of place when browsing a specific platform or playlist:
Example: Browsing NES games, but the screensaver starts showing PlayStation or PC games.
Example: Looking at the MAME category, but the screensaver shows console titles.
This breaks immersion and feels inconsistent with the user’s current browsing context.
💡 Proposal
Introduce a toggle option in Big Box settings:
✅ Use Games in Current View
If you’re in a platform view (e.g., NES), the screensaver cycles only through games in that platform.
If you’re in a playlist, the screensaver cycles only through that playlist’s games.
If you’re in a category view (e.g., “Arcade”), the screensaver cycles through all platforms under that category (e.g., MAME, Neo-Geo).
If you’re outside a contextual view (e.g., browsing playlists or platforms lists), the screensaver defaults to the current behavior: random games across the whole library.
🧩 Benefits
Creates a more immersive experience by staying consistent with the user’s current browsing focus.
Provides flexibility: users can still choose between global random or context-aware cycling.
Helps highlight and surface hidden gems within specific categories, platforms, or playlists.
