Add official support for Homebrew and ROM Hack badges in LaunchBox’s built-in badge system (under Badges > Game Attributes), allowing users to visually distinguish these types of games from official releases—without relying on third-party plugins.
Currently, LaunchBox does not include native badge options for identifying homebrew or ROM hack titles. While custom solutions exist via third-party plugins (e.g. Custom Badges Plugin), many users prefer to stick with native features for stability, simplicity, and full Big Box theme integration.
Without this, homebrew and ROM hack titles appear identical to official releases in views and playlists—making it difficult to organize libraries or surface unique content at a glance.
Expand the existing Badges > Game Attributes options by adding:
✅ Homebrew
✅ ROM Hack
These would pull from existing database flags (where supported) or could be toggled manually per game in the metadata editor, just like “Completed” or “Favorite.”
🎯 Helps users visually distinguish unofficial titles in large libraries
📁 Enables easier sorting, filtering, and playlist creation for modded or fan-made content
🧩 Supports better theme customization in Big Box (via native badge theming)
🔄 Removes dependency on external plugins for basic categorization needs
👥 Community-driven: reflects growing interest in ROM hacks and homebrew as core parts of retro gaming collections
