Add automatic emulator configuration presets to LaunchBox, similar to what other frontends (like RetroBat) already provide. These presets would apply recommended or community-approved settings for supported emulators, saving time for new users and offering convenience for advanced users.
When adding a new system, LaunchBox automatically applies a recommended configuration preset for the emulator.
Presets could include:
Recommended – balanced for mid-range PCs.
High Definition – optimized for enhanced visuals on 3D platforms.
High Performance – prioritizes speed over accuracy.
System Accuracy – authentic experience with shaders, bezels, and other accuracy settings.
Users can still override and customize settings after presets are applied.
Optionally, presets could evolve over time via community-voted configurations, ensuring they stay up to date with emulator advancements.
A new user imports a PlayStation 2 library. Instead of tweaking Dolphin or PCSX2 manually, they select the Recommended preset and get up-and-running immediately.
An advanced user sets up a Dreamcast collection and chooses High Definition, automatically enabling widescreen and higher internal resolution settings without hunting through menus.
Huge time saver for both new and advanced users.
Ensures solid default performance and compatibility right out of the box.
Makes LaunchBox more competitive with alternatives like RetroBat.
Reduces frustration from misconfigured emulators, while still preserving customization.
