Overview

Currently, LaunchBox only supports a single box spine image, which allows for a basic approximation of a 3D game box but not a fully accurate recreation. Many game cases have distinct left and right spines, and some collectors and retro enthusiasts would love to see support for all four sides for a more complete and immersive presentation.

Proposed Features

1️⃣ Support for Left & Right Spines (Priority)

• Allow users to add both left and right spine images instead of just one.

• This would significantly improve accuracy, particularly for platforms where the spines differ (e.g., PS1 longboxes, some Genesis/Mega Drive cases).

• If the previously requested horizontal rotation lock is implemented, users would only see the left and right spines, making this feature even more relevant.

2️⃣ Full Four-Sided Box Support (Ideal Scenario)

• Provide the option to add top and bottom spines as well.

• This would allow for a complete 3D recreation of the game box, especially useful for digital collectors.

3️⃣ Community-Sourced Spine Images

• While a single-source database for both left and right spines may not yet exist, many game spines can be found online (e.g., from eBay listings, community uploads, or fan-made reconstructions).

• Allowing users to add these manually would open the door for community contributions, filling in gaps over time.
