Improve regional accuracy in LaunchBox by expanding the list of supported countries (e.g., Poland, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavian countries) and enabling support for merged country groupings (e.g., North America + Brazil, Japan + Europe + Korea). This would enhance both scraping accuracy and playlist creation, especially for box art and media specific to multi-country releases.
Currently, LaunchBox relies on a limited list of regions. Games that are released across non-standard or overlapping regions—such as “Europe + Australia” or “Japan + Korea”—often get assigned the generic “World” region tag, which reduces accuracy for media scraping. Additionally, there’s no way to target or combine multiple specific countries when building dynamic playlists or organizing media.
Add More Countries to the LaunchBox Games Database, including:
Poland
Brazil
Australia
New Zealand
Scandinavia (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, etc.)
Enable Merged Country Tags, which could be selected as combinations for metadata, media scraping, and dynamic playlist logic.
Example merged tags:
“USA + Europe”
“Europe + Australia”
“Japan + Korea”
“North America + Brazil”
Tag-Based Region Logic
Allow games to be tagged with multiple country/region values.
Modify the AND/OR logic in dynamic playlists to support combined region filters.
Adjust scraping logic to prefer the most relevant media match based on these tags.
Greater accuracy for media scraping and box art selection
More flexibility when building region-specific or multi-region playlists
Reduces confusion from misleading or overly generic tags like “World”
Supports better metadata handling for regional variations and class ratings (e.g., AUS/NZ)
