Introduce a built-in mod management system in LaunchBox that allows users to easily add, enable, disable, and organize community-created mods for their PC games. This would streamline the modding process and centralize game customization directly within LaunchBox.
Currently, applying mods to PC games often requires external tools or manual file manipulation. This creates a barrier for less technical users and adds friction to the modding workflow. Since LaunchBox already manages games and additional applications, it’s a natural place to also manage and apply mods—especially as many users already curate large PC libraries within it.
Add a Mods tab when editing a PC game entry
Allow users to import ZIP or folder-based mods, categorize them (e.g. skins, fixes, content), and toggle them on or off
Support for loading order or priority for compatible mod types
Optional integration with popular mod repositories (e.g., Nexus Mods) to search, download, and update mods
Safe backup option to restore the game to its pre-modded state
Show enabled mods on the game’s details view, and optionally launch with or without mods
Centralizes mod management in one place alongside the rest of the user’s game library
Lowers the barrier to entry for modding PC games
Makes it easier to experiment with and share mod setups
Adds convenience for power users who juggle multiple mods per game 🧩🎮🧰
