📋 Summary
Introduce an auto-update option for themes in both LaunchBox and Big Box, ensuring users always have the latest versions of their installed themes without needing to manually check and update.
❗ Problem
Currently, users must manually update themes when new versions are released.
This process is time-consuming, especially for users with multiple themes installed.
Outdated themes can cause compatibility issues with new LaunchBox/Big Box features or prevent users from enjoying improvements made by theme creators.
💡 Proposal
Add an “Auto-Update Themes” option in the settings menu.
Two possible modes:
Silent Updates: Themes update automatically at LaunchBox startup.
Prompted Updates: A popup appears in LaunchBox or Big Box when theme updates are available, asking if the user wants to install them.
Provide a checkbox per theme in the theme manager to control whether each theme should auto-update or remain locked at the current version.
Optionally include a changelog preview so users can quickly see what’s new before updating.
🧩 Use Cases
A user with five installed Big Box themes wants them all to stay up-to-date automatically without manual intervention.
Another user prefers one theme to remain “frozen” at its current version (e.g., due to heavy customization), but still wants the others to update.
A user launches Big Box, sees a friendly popup that says “3 theme updates available. Update now?” and updates with a single click.
📦 Benefits
Saves users time and reduces friction in keeping themes current.
Prevents broken visuals or incompatibility caused by outdated themes.
Supports theme developers by ensuring their improvements and fixes reach users more quickly.
Gives flexibility with per-theme auto-update control.
