LaunchBox 13.12 introduces a brand new search system designed to help you find your games quicker and easier. We've streamlined the default search to focus on titles and alternate titles, the most commonly used search criteria. However, if you need to dig deeper, we've also added powerful filter switches that let you search by a variety of other game details.

Here's how it works:

Default Search: By default, searching in LaunchBox, Big Box, and LaunchBox for Android will now focus on titles and alternate titles. This means you can simply type in the name of the game you're looking for and get fast results.

Filter Switches for Advanced Searching: Want to find all your Sega Genesis RPGs published by Square Enix? No problem! Use our filter switches to narrow down your search. Here's a list of available filter switches:

  • All: (e.g., "all: Adventure")

  • Broken (e.g., "broken: no")

  • Complete (e.g., "complete: yes")

  • Developer (e.g., "developer:Square", "dev:Square")

  • Favorite (e.g., "fav: yes", "favorite: no")

  • Genre (e.g., "genre:Role-Playing")

  • Hide

  • Installed (e.g., "installed: yes")

  • Notes (e.g., "notes: time travel")

  • Platform (e.g., "platform:Sega Genesis", "plat:sega")

  • PlayMode (e.g., "play: single" "playmode: multiplayer")

  • Portable

  • Publisher (e.g., "publisher:Square Enix", "pub:Square Enix")

  • Rating (e.g., "rating: M - Mature")

  • Region (e.g., "region: Japan")

  • Series

  • Source

  • Status

  • Storefront (e.g., "store: Steam", "storefront: Epic")

  • Title (e.g., "title:Final Fantasy")

Example: "genre:adventure dev:capcom platform:playstation title:mega"

Want the Old Search Back?

If you prefer the previous search behavior, you can easily switch it back. Just go to Tools > Options > Data > Search > Use Advanced Search Syntax, and uncheck.
