Double Inputs When Navigating Big Box with a Controller

Some users report that when navigating Big Box with a controller, a single press (e.g., pressing up or down once) causes the selection to jump two spaces instead of one. This is typically caused by conflicting input mappings.
💡 Primary Cause: Steam Desktop Layout
If you have Steam running in the background, it may be applying a "Desktop Layout" to your controller.
What is the Desktop Layout?
Steam’s Desktop Layout is designed to make controllers usable for general PC navigation outside of games. It assigns additional inputs — often duplicating buttons or directional inputs — which can interfere with how Big Box receives input events.
How to Confirm
Quit Steam completely.
Restart Big Box.
Try navigating the interface.
If the issue is resolved, Steam’s Desktop Layout was the cause.
How to Fix
To prevent Steam from applying conflicting inputs:
Open Steam Settings.
Go to Controller > Non-Steam Game Controller Layouts.
Locate the Desktop Layout.
Click Edit and remove any unwanted bindings.

🧩 Other Possible Cause: Remapping Tools
Check if you’re running any controller remapping software in the background, such as:
DS4Windows
Joy2Key
Xpadder
InputMapper
These tools can create overlapping or duplicated input events. Disable them and test Big Box again.
✅ Summary
Double inputs are usually caused by Steam or remapping software.
Quit Steam or disable conflicting layouts.
Make sure no other input tools are interfering.
This should get your navigation back to normal! 🚀
